BeFit 30 Day Fat Burn Review and Giveaway

Get Ready to #BeFitAllYear!

Happy Friday!

As promised I am back with a thorough review of the BeFit 30 Day Fat Burn Challenge.

As you may recall I was invited to review the BeFit program, including a trio of nutritional products, by the Sweatpink community. The nutritional products were sent to me by BeFit to facilitate this review but all opinions are mine.

Since I am not personally looking to loose weight I decided to have my 15 year old daughter go through the program with me, after we received the thumbs up from her doctor.  She has been struggling with her weight and looking for a healthy and simple way to jumpstart her weight loss journey.  BeFit seemed like a good fit for her.

Like so many who are in her position, she needs a program that is simple to follow, doesn’t require significant sacrifice or drastic changes in daily habits, but yields visible results fast.

Before embarking on this journey, I had my daughter weight herself and write down her measurements (waist, hips, thighs and arms) so that we would have a baseline and could assess progress in terms of weight loss and inches lost.

Keeping track of body measurements is essential. As you gain muscle tone, you will most likely gain weight.  So you may be feeling a difference in your body, and seeing a difference when you look in the mirror, yet your scale won’t budge or if it does, it won’t be in a significant way. That’s normal!  Track your measurements and you will know without the shadow of a doubt how much you are actually changing your body 🙂

Alright let’s get to the BeFit 30 Fat Burn.

BeFit 30 Day Fat Burn – The Workout

Step One

Before you get started you’ll want to download the 30 Day Workout Calendar.

BeFit 30 Day Workout Calendar

As you can see the BeFit team is not messing around!

If you’ve been inactive for a while  you may be a bit intimidated by this calendar.

Yes, it looks insane because there is a workout practically every day.  But don’t worry. The BeFit team wants you to succeed. Each workout takes about 10 minutes to complete, so you’re not looking at hours on end of torture. Having said that, be prepared to feel nice and sore.  “Mom, my butt hurts!” is something I have been hearing practically daily these last few of weeks.  🙂  Oh yeah! That’s metamorphosis happening right now!!

I want you to notice what I circled in yellow for my daughter — the rest days.  Rest days are the key to seeing the transformation you are looking for so respect the rest days!  And yes you’ll be craving those rest days, trust me.

I added a daily walk to my daughter’s calendar. We have a little four legged friend who also needs his daily dose of exercise and walking is a healthy habit anyone can and should get into. Twenty minutes a day is a fabulous number to aim for.

Step Two

Get familiar with the BeFit workout video playlist.

All the workouts on the calendar are right there at your fingertips and you can play them on your tablet or even your phone so you can do your workout anywhere you want.  Even the park if you want to enjoy a little fresh air while you are at it.

This video playlist is the core of your fat burn program.

As I mentioned earlier, each workout is about 10 minutes long. But don’t be fooled. These workouts are designed for maximum fat burn and they are not for the faint of heart.

Remember to get clearance from your health care professional before jumping into this or any exercise program.

The workouts are the kind of workouts I love! They are designed to bring maximum results in the least amount of time. That means each exercise is going to call upon multiple muscle groups so you get the most out the time you put in.  You get cardio and strength training in just about everyone of these workouts. And your core is called upon constantly for stability.

When we first started with these I was a bit concerned that the workouts were too advanced for someone who has not been active for a while.  Most of the moves in these workouts are not what I consider beginner moves.  Danielle and Astrid demonstrate each exercise and occasionally show modifications. This is an area of the videos where I would have liked to see more.

Take for example a weighted squat (dumbbell in each hand) to a front kick with a push press.

BeFit video composite squat push press kick

Wow!

What I love about this particular exercise is that it works the body on many levels: power, strength, balance and cardio.

But… It’s a challenging move and if you’re just getting started you might struggle with it and get a little discouraged.  So here’s how I would break it down:

  • Start with the weighted squat. Get comfortable sitting deep in your squat with your weights held at your shoulders. Make sure you are sitting back and not leaning forward.
  • Add the push press — as you power up from your squat, thrusting hips forward a but, push weights straight up in the air. Bring weights back to shoulders as you sit back in your squat.
  • Add the kick.  If kicking your leg to the front is too challenging, raise your knee, then work towards a full extension.

Proper execution is key if you want to reap the maximum benefits and prevent injury.  My daughter found that she had to repeat most of the videos  several times before feeling comfortable with all the moves.  But that is to be expected if you’re just getting started or getting back into exercise after a long break.  The workouts are great, fast paced and fun!

Four weeks later my daughter is feeling good about all of them and making it through the videos with gusto. 🙂

Step Three

Get moving!

BeFit gives you all the tools for an effective workout plan but it’s up to you to commit and make it happen.

Remember, these workouts are short and powerful so carve out 15 minutes a day to dedicate to your workout.  I personally prefer getting my workout in first thing in the morning but my daughter has been doing these in the evening and loving how well she sleeps at night after getting rid of whatever stress came her way.

Do what works best for you and have fun!  You’ll love the way you feel and  the way you look!

BeFit Nutrition

BeFit Whey Protein, Vanilla

My daughter is not exactly a huge fan of protein shakes, so imagine my delight when she exclaimed, “Mom, this smoothie is the BOMB”!

Boy was that music to my ears!

I made it into a blueberry and banana bliss and seriously it taste amazing!

BeFit Blueberry Banana Bliss recipe graphic

I’ve tried a lot of different protein powders and though I tolerate many, I can’t exactly say I absolutely LOVE most of them. And in general it’s all because of one ingredient that I just don’t care for at all. That ingredient is stevia.

So, yes, I frowned when I saw that the BeFit Whey Protein has stevia in it and I was fully prepared to dislike it… Well I’m here to tell you I don’t know how they do it but I don’t get that lingering bitter after taste at all. I suspect it has to do with the quality of the stevia, but whatever it is I’m a happy camper and this protein powder tastes great.

As for my daughter this is the first protein powder she has continued to use. I’ve had her sample many others but she has never liked them enough to use them regularly. So for her to actually ask me to make her a smoothie is huge!

Just a quick reminder, this is a protein powder not a meal replacement. At just 100 calories per serving it’s perfect as your post workout recovery drink, but you will want to eat your regular balanced meals as well.  Enjoy your BeFit protein shake within a half and hour to forty five minutes after your workout to give your body the nutrients it needs to rebuild to muscle fibers.

The BeFit Vanilla whey protein is a winner for sure and we will be keeping it stocked from now on.

BeFit Pre Workout

BeFit Pre Workout intensifier with water bottle

Let me just tell you this product does not taste good.

There you have it, simple honest truth.

In all fairness, however, with the exception of one product, I have yet to find a pre-workout drink that does.

But I’ve tasted much worse. For my daughter, the less water I add the better because it goes down faster.

And … it works!

When I use this product before a workout, it’s like I’ve just turned on a little furnace and it is burning hot!

True to its promise this product cranks up your metabolism without the jitters.  I felt nothing but good clean energy throughout my workout.

Oh and did I mention the sweat?  Okay you’re probably thinking “TMI” but let’s be honest, a good workout generally means a good sweat.  If I’m putting in the time I’m going to give me my all and yes I’ll be sparkling when I’m done 🙂  The BeFit Pre-Workout intensifier made me sparkle even more… a lot more!

BeFit BURN

BeFit BURN bottle and two capsules on table

This item is the last of the nutritional trio I received.  It is designed to curb your cravings, enhance your fat burn and trigger your “Full” response before you over eat.  You take two pills before your biggest meal of the day.  For me that’s either breakfast or lunch. A typical breakfast would be a three egg omelette with tons of veggies, maybe some sautéed sweet potatoes and chicken sausage or even a slice of bacon, or perhaps a serving of fresh fruit salad.

True to its promise again BeFit BURN™ does not give you the  jitters.

BeFit BURN™ also contains prebiotics, probiotics and polyphenols to provide good bacteria to the gut.

I’m generally not a huge fan of these types of products because I believe that the only way to achieve lasting results is by changing your habits. Ironically this is why I’m okay with this product for people who, like my daughter, need a little crutch to get there.

But… This is something I would only recommend using short term, just long enough to gain that edge and start to feel in control of your food intake. And as always, only with the approval of your healthcare provider.

I would try this plan,it looks good.

  2. Me and my friend are trying to motivate each other and loose some weight any good tips or cleanses we should try and take?

    • I love that you have a friend to help motivate you Tara, that’s a HUGE plus! Here are a few tips that should help:
      1. Be clear on your goals
      2. Set up a schedule you can stick to
      3. Set up regular “check-ins” with each other
      4. celebrate the little victories along the way

I’ve written several articles on this topic. I think you’ll find this one quite useful.

As for a cleanse I’ll be posting a series of articles on that very topic over the next couple of weeks but if you’d like some more info before that feel free to send me an email and I can give you personalized recommendations based on your specific situation.

I’m excited for you Tara and wish you much success!

  3. I love this post. Always looking for healthy stuff like this! =]]

  4. I’m all about a great workout plan. This looks good and something I’d look into once I’m not pregnant and back to my regular workouts. 🙂

    • First congratulations on your pregnancy Andrea! What a precious and magical time! One of the things I absolutely love about this workout plan is how easy it is to fit into even the busiest of schedules… Just remember to get clearance from your doctor before you jump into this or any other workout and make sure you give your body plenty of time to recover… I’m sure your little bundle of joy will be more than delighted by all the loving attention he or she will get from you… indulge!! All the best 🙂

  5. I agree that using inches, not pounds is a better way to gauge progress. There are some good looking products here- esp the whey powder. I like to add soem protein to my daughters smoothies because she’s not a very healthy eater.

    • The scale can be so deceiving that I rarely weight myself anymore Wendy. At the end of the day whatever the scale shows doesn’t mean much. It’s how my clothes fit and how I look that tell me best where I stand. Your daughter should love this protein powder! It truly is yummy! I’ve found that with most kids these days, adding a little protein in a shake is a good thing as so many kids are carbivores 😉

  6. Kimberly Lynn says:

    This sounds excellent!

  7. I’m always looking for new workouts, I’ll have to check these out!

  8. That smoothie sounds amazing! I’m always looking for great new workout routines to add to the mix!

  9. I tried the cardio crush workout and it was intense! These seem like great cross training workouts to compliment my running. Your smoothie recipe looks good too, I’d love to win the protein powder and try it.

  10. I like the cardio extreme! 😀 I’ve been meaning to find some good cardio workout videos lately, so thank you for that! :]

    I don’t think I’ve ever come across a pre-workout that tasted good either. 😛

    • Awesome Farrah! The cardio extreme is one of my favorites too. Fun and effective! As for the pre-workout my go to is fresh juiced beets or a couple of dried dates or figs. They don’t trigger that “furnace” feeling but they taste great and provide me with the fuel I need to get through even the most demanding workouts. My husband goes on extended bike rides and he loves the BeFit pre-workout so I’m happy to share 😉
