Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Green Smoothie

PBCUpGreenSmoothieIf you love chocolate peanut butter cups you are going to LOVE this smoothie.  It is so decadent you’ll think you’re having desert.  And don’t worry about your little ones, they’ll be begging you to make this for them! Yum!


Option 1

* For a even more decadent drink use chocolate almond milk!

Option 2

  • 1 heaping Tbsp raw peanut or almond butter
  • 2 tbsp raw cacao powder
  • 1 to 2 generous handfuls raw kale or spinach, carefully washed, stems removed
  • 8-10 oz almond milk*
  • 1 tsp raw honey – optional if you prefer a little sweeter
  • ice – optional


Place all ingredients in the bowl of a blender and blend all ingredients until smooth.

Serve chilled and enjoy!

For an added boost of goodness, add 1 tbsp of raw chia seeds. Chia seeds are a “superfood” long enjoyed by the Aztec. They are an excellent source of protein with 3g per Tbsp, Omega 3 fatty acids and fiber.

And if you add them to your smoothie they will swell up like little boba balls adding a fun texture to your drink.

I make all of my nut butters from scratch. Making your own nut butters is super simple, absolutely delicious and the best way to make sure your ingredients are wholesome and of the best quality. For peanut butter, place 1 lb raw Valencia peanuts in a food processor and blend until desired consistency. Voila! If you like a crunchy peanut butter, reserve a handful of peanuts and toss them in when your nut butter is at the consistency you like.

The beauty of home made nut butter is the endless possibilities. Some of my family’s favorites are almond and hazelnut, almond with flaxseed or cashew butter.
