Curb Your Cravings with Appethyl – Product Review

It’s 3PM. You’ve been going non-stop all day and you need a break…

You storm into the kitchen, on a mission….

Throw open the pantry and take a quick inventory.

Your eyes fall on the healthy snacks you keep within easy reach…

You hesitate for a split second then push them aside as you reach for…

A bag of chips!!!

Salty, greasy, but oh so tasty and just what you are craving!

“I’ll only eat a handful,” you reason. Then with your prized possession, plop yourself in front of your computer, eager to peruse Facebook and catch up on the latest from all your friends.

Life is good!

Until…

Gasp!

You’ve eaten the entire bag!… In less than ten minutes!

Yikes right?

Guilty as charged!

Most of us will experience these “moments of weakness” once in a while.

Okay maybe every other day or so.

But before you beat yourself up at being weak, and caving in once again to this senseless eating, know that it’s not your fault!

No.

Whether your poison of choice is chocolate covered pretzels, or a bag of sour cream and onion chips, this type of eating has nothing to do with actual hunger.  Hedonic eating, or mindless eating, is triggered by boredom or stress and even those of us with astonishing will power find ourselves powerless to resist.  Yes this type of hunger is pleasure driven, not need driven.

Appethyl package with spinach

I’ve been guilty of this senseless eating far too often in the past seven months. I blame stress and sleep deprivation, and though I understand where it comes from I feel no less guilty.

So when I was invited to review Appethyl, I jumped at the opportunity.

What is Appethyl?

Appethyl is a dietary supplement which contains one simple ingredient: spinach — or more specifically, a spinach extract called thylakoids.

Thylakoids make up the cell membranes in dark leafy vegetables such as Spinach, Kale, Swiss Chard and Collard Greens. They are rich in vitamins A, E and K and antioxidants, and have been found to play an important role in appetite control and weight management.  How you ask?  Thylakoids contain compounds that have scientifically been shown to reduce appetite and slow down the digestion of fats, which in turn triggers the release of hormones that lead to us feeling full.

Great! Let’s eat lots of spinach and other dark leafy greens rich in Thykaloids right?

Sure, but you’d need an insane amount of these foods to get anywhere close to the amount of thykaloids you need to reap the benefits. And even if you love these foods as much as I do I suspect you don’t really want to do that. And if you don’t like these foods? Well we know what happens then – no thylakoids for you.

That’s the magic of Appethyl!

Appethyl has been called the “Green Gold” and is:

  • Is 100% natural, made from thylakoids found in spinach cells

  • Suppresses appetite – Thylakoids work to delay and slow down the digestion and absorption of fats and carbohydrates, allowing the body’s satiety system to work the way it is supposed to and release satiety hormones that signal to the brain that we are satisfied.

  • Clinically proven to reduce cravings for unhealthy foods high in salt, sugar, and unhealthy fats

  • Reduces weight – In a recent clinical study, subjects who were trying to lose weight and took Appethyl daily lost 43% more weight than those taking placebo!

  • Is easy to incorporate into your daily routine. Supplied in individual sachets containing the daily serving of 5 grams, users can simply enjoy Appethyl in a morning smoothie or a glass of water with a meal.

Used effectively in Sweeden for more than a decade, Appethyl is now available in the US.

What are my thoughts about Appethyl?

In a nutshell I love it! It’s easy to use and it works.

But let me expand a little more on my experience with Appethyl.

Taste and Texture:  I used it for about 2o days or so by adding a sachet to my morning shake. I blends easily and I could not detect it in any way.  I love all things green and regularly enjoy fresh juiced greens but I did not feel the spinach taste stood out at all.  In fact I added a sachet of Appethyl to my oldest daughter’s shake one morning without telling her and she did not taste a difference at all.  There was also  no gritty texture or unpleasant after taste as I have experienced with other products.

Appetite Control: I used Appethyl in the morning which means around 7 am, and I was pleased to realize that I did not make my way back into the kitchen until about noon, right on time for lunch! As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, I’ve been struggling with hedonic eating for the past few months.  I’ve found it difficult to stay on task and found myself in the kitchen, searching for something to put in my mouth far more often that I wanted to. It’s not my usual way and it was really starting to bother me.  When I first researched Appethyl and read about it’s appetite suppressing qualities I was a bit skeptical to say the least. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised and found it did indeed curb my cravings.

Weight Loss:  I did not personally experience any weight loss with Appethyl, but I want to be clear that that was not my goal in the first place. I’m at a comfortable weight right now,  though if my senseless eating continued much longer I’d be in trouble. So curbing my cravings and helping me end the frustrating cycle of mindless eating was definitely a good thing!

Would I recommend Appethyl?

Absolutely! But with these words of caution — Appethyl may be lovingly called the Green Gold but it is not a magic powder. Nothing is. A succesful weight loss program, a journey to better health, more energy and vitality … all start with a healthy life plan with a foundation in healthy food choices and regular exercise. Appethyl is s an excellent tool to support you in sticking to your healthy resolutions and combatting the senseless eating you find yourself powerless to fight on your own. But it is an appetite suppressant not and end all be all.

I’ve never heard of this but willing to give it a chance. I wonder if it is available in Canada and will have to do a search for it. Anything that helps take the diet stress away when your life is already stressful enough.

    • I believe you can get Appethyl in Canada Edith and will be happy to check for you. I know you can purchase it on Amazon. I will be hosting a giveaway for a 1 month supply of Appethyl next week so make sure to be on the lookout for that 🙂
