Cush Comfort – Love at First Sit!

Cush Comfort Review title image

How is your tush feeling today?

Mine?

Never felt better!

But what’s even better is that my back feels amazing!

You see for the last couple of weeks I’ve been enjoying the wonders of the revolutionary Cush Comfort cushion and my tush and, more importantly my back, are feeling fabulous!

Like far too many of my peers I spend way too many hours on my tush each and every day — whether I’m sitting at my computer writing away, playing chauffeur for one daughter or another, or fighting LA traffic on my way to a meeting, training session with a client or a workout, I find myself sitting far too frequently.

But I’m not complaining.

For the most part, those hours of sitting are now pain free.

There was a time when sitting was pure torture …

It had been a beautiful day in March of 1992. Cris and I were taking our last run of the day after finally completing our Ski Patrol candidate training. It was a typical spring skiing day at Mt Waterman — the snow was a little soft and patchy in spots so we’d gone out of bounds with our fellow patrolers. If you’ve never been to Mt. Waterman it’s a gem of a hill! The face is all blacks and double blacks and stands tall right off the road.

We were about 15 feet above the road and needed to cut straight across to the main hill.

There was a narrow path with snow.

We’d need speed to make it across.

Cris went ahead.

I followed.

I had good speed, good form…. And then…

I came to an abrupt stop as I skied over a hidden rock. Carried forward by the momentum I had gathered I tumbled down the hill at dizzying speed.

Excruciating pain seared up and down my spine. I could barely breathe. I could not move.

I had landed on the concrete road with a giant rock lodged behind my back.

The hour long drive home was the longest drive of my life!

I was strapped to the seat which had been lowered with coats and other items of clothing stuffed here and there to keep me from rolling onto my back.

X-rays later revealed that I had dislocated my sacroiliac joint.

Doctors were dumbfounded and not particularly optimistic. I was prescribed muscle relaxants, pain killers and months of physical therapy.

As much as I would have loved to take some time off from work it was not an option.

The film business is a business driven by deadlines and nothing gets in the way of meeting those deadlines. Pain or not I had to make it through my day and deliver the work.

I invested in one cushion after another, took frequent breaks, had massages as often as I could afford them.

It helped to some degree but the pain never went away.

Pain in your lower back doesn’t stay in your lower back. It radiates upwards and down to your legs.

And when you’re in pain each hour spent sitting is one hour too many.

Pain, especially the kind of pain you just can’t escape, affects your quality of life in the worst possible ways.

Pain impacts your productivity.

Pain impacts your mood.

Pain makes simple things challenging.

Put simply, pain robs you of living out each day to the fullest and that’s just no way to live.

When I opened up my own business I had my editing desk custom built. It was higher than a regular desk to prevent me from slouching.

I invested in a Herman Miller chair.

I insisted on regular workouts, and built myself a super strong core.

All in all I was doing pretty well. Though in total honesty, I healed from my injury but I never completely got rid of the pain. I just learned to live with it and for the most part, ignore it.

That’s why I was delighted to be invited to review Cush Comfort.

When I went back to work after my accident, the only way I could sit was with a cushion with the little cut out in it. It didn’t exactly make sitting comfortable, it made it tolerable, and at the time that was a Godsend.

Cush Comfort is nothing like those cushions at all. It is the Rolls Royce of therapeutic cushions!

What is Cush Comfort?

Cush Comfort is a revolutionary cushion designed by Chris. Chris suffered a herniated disk when he was just 26. The resulting pain was debilitating.  Unable to find a product that could ease his pain, Chris set out to design his own… and Cush Comfort was born!!!

What makes Cush Comfort Special?

Cush Comfort is made of the highest grade memory foam which means it conforms to your buttocks and provides a supportive base that is just right for you.  Sorry, no sharing this marvelous cushion unless you purchase your loved one his very own.

The cushion is free of fillers and chemicals which is a huge plus for me.

Cush Comfort Design Details

Cush Confort is covered in a velvety soft fabric which is not only luxurious to sit on it actually keeps you cool no matter where you are. I take my Cush Comfort in the car every Monday since I have an hour commute to work and this summer with temperatures up to 108 this is a feature I LOVE! The cover conveniently zips off and is washable so you can keep it nice and clean at all times.

On the back of the cushion you’ll find on non skid surface that keeps your cushion safely in place whatever the surface of the seat you place it upon may be.

What truly sets Cush Comfort apart from other cushions, however,  is that rather than have a cut out for your sacrum, it actually has a raised little bump and that is the real genius of this cushion!

This “bump” gently lifts and suspends your tailbone releasing all tension on the spine.  It’s amazing how something so simple can be so powerful but it is!

That means no lower back pain, no neck pain, no pain traveling down your legs.

    • Oh no Rosie, I don’t want my story to deter anyone from skiing! I still sky as much as I can. I was one of those fluke accidents… This cushion has been a godsend though and keeping fit a huge help. I hope your relative enjoys the Cush Comfort and finds immense relief with it.

Cris, the man who created, came up with the design when he himself suffered from a herniated disk but could not find any product that provided him with the relief he desperately needed. I hope this makes a huge difference for your husband!

  14. Robin Wright says:

Oh. My. I’m going to have to look I to this. Since 2006 I have been in severe pain due to a motorcycle accident. Nobody can ever understand the amount of pain the entire back, legs, and butt can be in. Even after all these years, I still can’t sit for more than 20-30 minutes at a time without severe pain. T-T

    • OH goodness Robin that sounds horrific! First I am glad you are okay! But you are right, it’s nearly impossible for people who do not suffer from back pain to have any idea how paralyzing it can be. It’s also the kind of pain you just cannot ignore… you may be able to push past it for some time but then it just assaults you… I pray this cushion brings you some relief.. 10 years in constant pain is too much!
