Fitness Friday – 30 Day Plank Challenge



For our first Fitness Friday of 2015 I decided to have a little fun and issue a challenge to all of you.

After all health and fitness always make it to the top of the list when it comes to our New Year’s Resolution so what do you say we start off with a BANG?

A strong core is essential for proper form no matter what exercise you do and for us moms it tends to be a bit of a challenge area.  But with all the lifting we do, holding a squirming toddler in one arm, a stroller and 3 bags in the other for example, well we need good strong abs to keep us going strong and prevent injury.

My goal for you with this challenge is twofold:

  1. A solid core workout that will strengthen all major areas including obliques
  2. Hold a plank for 1 straight minute by week 4

I use a Tabata or HIIT approach so use a tabata timer to keep track of your work/rest periods, put on a motivating piece of music and have fun!  The rest days are as important as your workout days so don’t skip them even if you are feeling good.



The plank is one of my favorite core exercises as you know, because it really is a total body exercise when properly executes. You’ll find instructions on the various positions below, but please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions whatsoever.
