How Do You Define Strong?

I am STRONG!

Those are words I can speak with confidence.

Strong woman with words 'What makes you strong?"

It wasn’t always the case but today I can stand tall and boldly proclaim I AM STRONG!

I don’t speak of physical strength though I possess that as well.

Oh yes, I’m reminded of this often… When I invite a new mom to try my family aerial class, for example,  one of the most common responses I get is “I would love to but I’m not strong enough!”  And it gives me great joy to dispel that myth 🙂 Yes all the moms I’ve taught have discovered they too can do it!!

Most of us moms are much stronger that we give ourselves credit for.  Think about this for a minute. How often have you carefully carried a sleeping infant in her carseat while hoisting an overfilled diaper bag, your purse and a couple of grocery bags on your hip, elbows or heck, even in your teeth!!!

Moms kick butt!

I’ve been called hardcore and I wear that badge with pride.  Yet I consider my physical strength a gift, one that I am happy to develop and celebrate, but not one that I choose to define myself by.  Trust me there are plenty of women who are physically much stronger than I am and I have tremendous respect for them. They inspire me and motivate me to care for my body and stay committed to my workouts.

What makes me strong is WHO I am… My inner strength…

My character…

My resilience.

How we define STRONG has everything to do with how we live it out.

I am a STRONG woman!

I know who I am and I  love who I am. Life has not always been easy. At times I’ve been surrounded by such thick darkness I wanted to give up. But those are the things that have forged me, molded me into the woman I am today and for that I am grateful.

I am a STRONG wife!

Marriage is tough. Whoever tells you otherwise would be lying. It takes commitment, patience and perseverance… It takes humility, compassion and faith. It is a journey… One filled with the unexpected… The good, the not so good, and the things we’d gladly to without.  It is a journey I am committed to living out to the very end. With each passing year, through the trials and the victories, my husband and I grow stronger together, our shared life becomes richer and more exciting! I will fight for my marriage with everything I have because it is in pushing through the challenges that we get to savor the sweetest moments.

I am a STRONG mom!

My girls are my world and there is nothing I would not do for them! They are my pride,  my joy… What makes me complete and inspires me to always be the best that I can.

I am STRONG in my faith!

My faith is my rock, my FOUNDATION!

Eagle with Isaiah 40:31 scripture verse

I can not tell you how grateful I am for this amazing gift. My faith is what has carried me through the darkest times of my life.  As I have shared previously, this past year has challenged us in ways I could never I have been prepared for and my faith is what saved me.  When the storm raged uncontrollably my faith brought me the most beautiful peace, gave me confidence that days filled with sunshine lay ahead, gave me the strength I needed to make it through each minute of the day…

I am STRONG in my family!

I have the most amazing family in the world! My parents and siblings are pure gold. We’ve been through thick and thin together, we laughed and cried, fought and made up, and there is no one in the world I would rather call my own than these truly spectacular human beings. I am blessed beyond compare!

I am STRONG in my friends!

I am so abundantly blessed in my friends! Truly God could not have been more generous with me in the people he has placed in my life to guide me, love me, push me, support me…

I am STRONG in my sense of self!

I AM Strong!

And yes, all these things make me #BOSUStrong 🙂
