When it comes to fitness Gabby Reece believes that the best kind of workout should be fun as well as challenging and it should be adaptable to each individual’s specific needs. The perfect fitness program is one that can be done by anyone, regardless of age or ability. That is my belief as well so I was eager to discover her signature workout, HIGHX.
HIGHX os a bootcamp like circuit workout that can be as challenging as your little heart desires, but can just as easily be adapted to meet the needs of every participant.
When sharing about her classes with us during our morning chat, Gabby let us know with a smile, that some of her 60 year old clients power through her workouts with far more ease than some of her 20 year olds… Because in the end, fitness is a way of life that is as much driven by mindset as it is by physical ability. And as I always say, age is nothing but a number and the only limitations that come with age are the ones we accept.
So ready for a little HIGHX action?
When we walked into the room where our HIGHX workout was to take place we found all sorts of equipment laid out, ready to be used in all sorts of fun way. There we ropes, fences, ab wheels, weight bags, ladders… We were in for a sweaty hour for sure!
Gabby went through every station, demonstrating the exercises, making sure we were all clear on what was expected as well as proper form for each exercise and variations to simplify the specific exercise if needed.
We were divided into teams, as many as the different stations, and yes we were pumped!
Remember I was with a group of fitness enthusiasts most of whom are fitness trainers of some sort, and as you can imagine, these women are always up for a challenge.
Gabby cranked up the music and we turned up the heat!
Sorry I don’t have photos of the actual workout to share I was too busy participating and there was no time for photo ops.
Each station required us to do two different exercises so we split our team in two and alternated. Gabby kept time and told us when to switch from one exercise to the next as well as when to move to the next station. We had a short rest period between stations but pretty much kept moving for one hour.
As I went through the circuit I appreciated how carefully thought out it was. The stations alternated between cardio based exercises and strength exercises, focusing on different muscle groups so we could push hard on each set without running out of steam. And push we did! That is one of the huge benefits of group fitness! I feel motivated and pushed by the other participants. I know they are there to give their best and so I am. As much as I love working out, I know there is no way that I work out with as much intensity on my own as when I workout with a group.
All in all HIGHX was a fun workout that challenged me. I definitely was giving it one hundred percent and I loved that I always reached the end of a set just as I thought I had pushed enough. I can see how this is a program that anyone can do because you go through each rotation at a pace that is right for you. You can push hard on one set, then slow down on the next and be ready to attack the following set. Gabby included exercises that provide gentle but deep stretching, as well as balance which is a fabulous way to engage the mind.
HIGHX left me pleasantly sore and put me in the best of mood!
Yes she is tall and absolutely gorgeous! But most of all she is a beautiful human being with a passion for spreading her joy of healthy living and making fitness approachable to everyone.
If you have a chance to give HIGHX a try I highly encourage you to do so, then come back and share your experience with me 🙂

It’s a good kind of temporary death Brittany lol 🙂
Oh this looks like I would get my arse handed to me on a plate!! Would love to try to see if I could do it though.
Try it Heather, you will probably surprise yourself! The beauty of this workout is that it can be as intense as you want it to be, but you can adapt everything to your personal level of fitness. So I say “Go for it!!”
What an awesome workout! Might have to give it a try!
I would encourage you to try it Virginia. It was a blast!
Sounds like a great one. I like the idea of stations. It seems like you got a full body workout that way.
It sounds pretty intense and like an amazing workout. Going nonstop for an hour and alternating cardio and strength is a good idea!
Looks intense! I love the setup !
It was intense Jasmine, especially because of the group of ladies I was with… All with a love of fitness and amazing, positive energy 🙂
Sounds like it was a really amazing experience. It also sounds like Ms. Reece was an exceptional teacher.
Gabby Reece was a real pleasure to work with Patti, and I loved her powerful yet quiet energy. Always grounded and positive yet ready to play hard with anyone who was eager to. A fabulous experience for sure!!
That sounds like so much fun! I can’t imagine the energy level in the room!
It was pretty amazing Jennifer! The entire four days of the conference were invigorating but this class was special. Gabby made her way through our groups repeatedly and infused positive energy while making sure we all executed the various exercises with proper form. And yes, when you’re with a group of hard core women it can get pretty crazy 🙂
