I’ve made several batches of these and played around with spices to change my flavor profile a bit.  Feel free to experiment with your favorite spices.

How to make these Garlic Buttery Seed Crackers

Making these seed crackers is super easy but you’ll need to plan ahead as they need about an hour and a half in the oven to get nice and crispy.  You’ll want to preheat your oven to 250 for a nice low temperature that will preserve the nutrients in these delicious bites.

Begin by placing the flaxseed meal, flax seeds and chia seeds in a medium mixing bowl. Cover them with the warm water and allow them to sit for 10 to 15 minutes. You’ll get a thick gelatin like paste.

Add the rest of your seeds, spices, salt and pepper and the melted ghee or raw butter.  Mix until all your ingredients are combined then spread evenly on a buttered cookie sheet.

Bake these for about 1 hour to an hour an 15 minutes.  The crackers should feel mostly dry to the touch.

Flip the crackers dough over.  To do this easily  I place a large cutting board over my cookie sheet, flip the cookie sheet over, then slide the dough back onto the cookie sheet.

Return to the oven and bake for another 10 to 15 minutes. Turn off the oven but keep the crackers in there until the oven has cooled. This keeps them dehydrating a little longer so you can enjoy a nice crunchy cracker.

Break into pieces or use a pizza cutter if you prefer clean edges.

Enjoy them on their own or paired with your favorite dip.

I served them with my lemon cilantro hummus which was heavenly!

Store in a dry glass container if you have any left over 😉

Ingredients

  • 6 tbsp flaxseed meal
  • 2 tbsp flaxseeds
  • 2 tbsp Chia seeds
  • 1 Cup warm water
  • 2 tbsp Ghee or raw butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup hemp hearts
  • 4 tbsp pepitas or other seed of choice
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • salt & freshly ground pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 250
Place flaxseed meal, flaxseeds and chia seeds in a bowl and cover with warm water.
Let sit for 10 to 15 minutes until a thick paste is formed.
Add melted ghee, hemp hearts, pepitas or seed of choice, garlic powder, salt and pepper and mix until combined.
Spread onto a cookie sheet spreading as evenly as possible to ensure your crackers will be evenly dehydrated.  You may grease your cookie sheet slightly if you want.
Bake a 250˚F for one hour.
Remove from oven and flip.  I do this by placing a cutting board on top of the cookie sheet, flipping it then sliding the dough back onto the cookie sheet.
Bake for another 20 minutes or so.
Turn off oven and allow crackers to keep dehydrating until the oven is cool, about 20 minutes more.
When crackers are nice and crips, remove from cookies sheet and break into pieces. You can also use a pizza slicer if you like clean edges.
Enjoy as is or dipped in fresh hummus or other dip of choice.
