Make it a Sweet Summer with Meijer Ice Cream Summer Sweepstakes

When I told my daughters I was writing a post about ice cream they were overjoyed! Ice cream is practically synonymous with summer in our home. With temperatures rarely falling beneath 100 all summer long it’s a fun treat to enjoy as a mid afternoon snack or a late night indulgence.

Though we love to play around with making healthy frozen treats of our own we also keep our freezer well stocked with some of our favorite brands so we always have something on hand when the cravings strike or friends drop by for a visit.

On a recent shopping spree we stopped by the frozen section to pick up a few favorites. Now, as I am sure is the case with most families, we don’t all five agree on the same ice cream every time and that is why we love Meijer!   From classics like Good Humor (my husband remembers these fondly from his childhood) and Popsicle (always a selection of those at my grandma’s too) to more contemporary choices such as Ben & Jerry’s Core, Magnum and Breyers Gelato, Meijer offers a wonderful selection with something for everyone, no matter what you are craving.

Chocolate and caramel is a combination that is hard to resist and these Magnum bars deliver on flavor!

Breyers Gelato caught my little one’s eye… Caramel Indulgence.. Oh my how can you say “no”?

We came home with a selection of ice creams to please the different palates in our home, and a few easy treats for guests of all ages.

Vanilla is family staple.

It brings back fond memories of summers at my Gand parents’ in Texas. My siblings and cousins and I spent many an afternoon cranking the crank on the ice cream maker, churning some delicious home made vanilla ice cream. But my grandma knew kids don’t always have the patience for home made ice cream and kept a generous supply of Breyers vanilla in the freezer in the garage. We enjoyed it with fresh sliced juicy peaches from her garden… Umm those were some wonderful summers!

I have a confession… I’m in love with Ben & Jerry’s Core ice creams! 

Talk about decadent!!!

I’ve been a Ben & Jerry’s fan since my college years. Can you imagine having “All-You-Can-Eat” Ben & Jerry’s ice cream at every meal? Crazy I know and that’s exactly what we had. I attended Middlebury College in Vermont and we had at least three flavors to choose from every day of the year at every meal, including breakfast! Let’s not even talk about the Freshman 15!

My new discovery with Ben & Jerry’s, thanks to  my lovely 18 year old, are the “Core” ice creams.  Talk about indulgence! The Karamel Sutra is a truly decadent treat and if you follow me on Instagram you’ve seen a few empty cartons on my stream.  No guilt here at all, lol.

Chocolate and Hazelnut is a dangerous combination in my book and one practically impossible to resist so I had to try the “Hazed and Confused”…

Once home, my little monkey couldn’t resist the urge to just dig in to one of her favorites, and that was just fine by me.
