For the first time ever, I am celebrating Thanksgiving far from home and loved ones…
I’m halfway around the world, on the beautiful island of Koh Lanta, where I arrived a few short days ago with my beautiful friend Jen Bricker.
I’ve dreamed of coming to this part of the world since my parents shared photos of a trip to India, Nepal and Thailand with my siblings and I when I was younger. So when Jen asked me to join her I felt honored and abundantly blessed. I did not realize at the time I’d be missing Thanksgiving but when I did, my husband and fifteen year old assured me they’d be fine and not to worry about a thing. Thanksgiving comes every year, but this was an opportunity of a lifetime. Blessed I am!
The weather is splendid and I have been graced with the most stunning skies at both sunrise and sunset! As I gaze at the majesty of God’s creation each and every day, my heart is filled with gratitude at all the blessings in my life. My family is my greatest blessing. Time and again I marvel at how generous God has been with me in the people that share every intimate moment of my life.
This past year has been the most challenging year ever but it has also been a year of immense and profound personal and family growth.
My parents are the most exquisite parents in the world, kind, gentle, passionate, faithful, supportive, loving to a fault. And I could not have asked for better siblings. As we’ve matured we’ve grown tighter than ever. I smile as I remember our time together last fall when we all returned home to celebrate my parents’ fiftieth wedding anniversary. We “flowed” so beautifully together. It is a time I will cherish for the rest of my life.
As I watch the sun rise once again, savoring the quiet of the morning, I think of all the beautiful friends God has blessed me with. My heart is full to the brim. I feel wrapped in a warm embrace of unconditional love.
Life is a journey that takes on twists and turns we can never anticipate. But wherever it takes me it is a journey that I cherish and savor, one precious moment at a time, appreciating the beauty in every moment, every trial and every victory.
And as the sun continues to rise, my thoughts are with you. You are a beautiful part of my life and on this day of Thanksgiving I want to say “Thank you” from the bottom of my heart for being you, and for welcoming me into your life and into your heart.
May your Thanksgiving be abundantly blessed and may you always be assured that you are truly priceless!
