Bedtime reading is a privileged time for Sabrina.
Now that she is comfortable reading all sorts of books including a handful of chapter books, she really looks forward to cuddling up under the blankets with a good book.
Some books come out night after night… just like this new favorite of hers, “The Dusty Puppy” by Vanessa MacAdams.
The Dusty Puppy is a sweet story about a curious little puppy who ventures out in search of adventure. Distracted by all the fun he is having he wonders far from home and his siblings and ends up realizing that he is completely lost. Tired and hungry he finds refuge in the storage room of a little print shop.
What our sweet little puppy doesn’t know yet, is how special this storage room will turn out to be… And that he has in fact found his new best friend and forever home.
The book is written simply but without being dumbed down, which is something I really appreciate in children’s books. Our kids are super smart and I love when they are a bit challenged by the vocabulary in their books which in turns empowers them as they learn these “bigger” words.
It’s hard not to fall in love with the Dusty Puppy and his boy Elliot.
I found the story to be a little reminiscent of Curious George and suspect this little ball of fluff will embark on many exiting adventures with his new best friend. I look forward to discovering all of them in upcoming releases in what I hope will be a popular children’s book series.
The illustrations are simple and super sweet and beautifully bring to life the characters of the book, especially Dusty. How can you not fall in love with this precious little face?
Sabrina certainly loves this sweet little pup… And who better to share this special story with than her own little dog Farley?
Look like he enjoyed the story as much as Sabrina does 🙂
This book was gifted to Sabrina by the author who happens to be a dear friend of ours. I’ve always known Vanessa to be creatively gifted but had no idea she had any inclination to write a children’s book series. I love when my friends show me a new side of themselves and give me the opportunity to celebrate their talents and gifts!
The Dusty Puppy is a delightful little book that will touch the heart of young and young at heart alike.
If you’d like to bring the Dusty Puppy home to your little one , you will find both the paper back and Kindle book on Amazon
Make sure to grab the Kindle version by end of day Friday April 3rd (Sabrina’s 8th birthday 🙂 ) It’s FREE and sure to delight children, pups and their grown ups.

I love bedtime reading! Our favorite is The Giving Tree!
How cute! Right now our favorite is Blue’s Bed Time
This sounds like a wonderful bedtime read. I’m so glad it’s available on Kindle too!
I bet my boys would love that book! We do lots of Dr. Seuss and the occasional chapter book (over several nights/weeks).
Isn’t storytime/bedtime reading the best? My son is in 1st grade and my daughter is in Kindergarten so we still read to them at night, but have been reading chapter books. We do afternoon reading with my son’s Kindle Fire (set for 30 minutes, I love the parental controls!) so he can read on his own an usually picks the Magic Tree House series. But, bedtime reading we still curl up and listen to one person read. It is a fun tradition.
We read the same bedtime stories again and again. I do love the sweet snuggles. And since I have them memorized, I can close my eyes and rest a little myself. It sounds like I need to add this one to the mix.
I have to get this book for the boychild, he is obsessed with puppies.
that is adorable that she was reading it with her dog!!
